Hello everyone! Welcome to my missionary blog!
I submitted my mission papers to church headquarters on February 5, 2014. Two days later, I received a text from Bishop McCoy informing me that my call had been assigned!
The letter arrived on Thursday, February 13, 2014. And I opened it that Saturday (the 15th) at 8:00pm! Surrounded by family and friends, I read aloud the words,
"Dear Elder Bowles:
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the France Lyon Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months.
You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the French language."
I can't believe it! I feel so incredibly blessed to serve the people in southern France! Lyon was actually my dream mission and I was completely overcome with shock when I read that I was going there! But the shock quickly faded and I felt such a peace inside of me that I've never felt before. I know the church is true and that the Book of Mormon can change lives. And I am so grateful to serve the Lord in France for two years.
